Fins are used at various places to provide heat-conducting surface to reduce the temperature of attached surface. The equipment is designed to study the heat transfer in a pin type fin.

The equipment consists of Pin type fin fitted in duct on suction side of blower. Duct is provided with bell-mouth entrance. A heater heats one end of fin and heat flows to the another end. Orifice is fitted on delivery side of blower to measure the airflow rate. Heat input and temperature distribution along the fin is measured on control panel.
